Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor 

Department: Engineering 

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt 

Reports to: Chief Engineer and/or General Manager

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department by overseeing maintenance staff, assigning daily tasks, and performing a wide variety of maintenance duties throughout the hotel. This includes preventative maintenance, repairs, and coordination of projects to ensure all facilities are kept in excellent condition. This role serves as a working supervisor, actively assisting with hands-on repairs while leading the team to ensure timely and quality service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and support Maintenance Engineers and ensure departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assign and prioritize daily maintenance tasks, projects, and inspections.
  • Ensure all guestroom, public space, and back-of-house maintenance requests are responded to efficiently and professionally.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks in areas such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.
  • Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to support larger capital projects and ensure compliance with all OSHA and local codes.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed for specialized work or repairs.
  • Conduct regular property walkthroughs to proactively identify maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures for staff and ensure PPE is properly used.
  • Assist in scheduling and payroll tracking for the maintenance department.
  • Support the implementation and tracking of the Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Ensure tools and maintenance spaces are kept organized and in good working condition.
  • May be required to assist during emergencies or be on-call during nights/weekends.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in multiple maintenance trades including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to complete reports or log work electronically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications a plus.
  • Ability to obtain any required licenses or certificates.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Safety & Compliance:

This position requires the use of appropriate PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and protective footwear. Associates are expected to follow all OSHA safety standards and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
